The Cafe space of the Old School is at the back of the building in a stunning new conservatory addition to the historical building. Two of its walls consist of large window areas, which look out onto a small garden area and an outside seating terrace. The cafe space includes five matching cast iron tables, each with four wooden chairs, providing seating for 20. For larger private events, the tables can be moved within the building to make space for a buffet set up with four longer trestle tables.
The cafe provides an ideal space for smaller group activities, food pop ups, group dinners or art events which prefer a cosier atmosphere than the main hall.
The cafe and its kitchen provide a centre point to the Old School’s collaboration with Slated Row School, who are based next door to the building. Slated Row is a community special school for children and young people aged 4 to 19. They cater for 208 pupils with moderate to complex special educational needs. Between Monday and Thursday students of the school will offer a coffee and cake and lunch to visitors between the hours of 10:30am and 1:30pm, which means that this area is not for hire during this time. Users of the Hall are encouraged to visit the Slated Row Cafe for refreshments.
